135 MS: The Beauty with Brains

Most of you must have heard the phrase ‘Beauty with Brains’ a lot of times in terms of human beings. The case of this being true was fewer in people, however, it was much lesser in cars. You’ll not believe any car like that would have existed before you set your eyes on the one and only 135 MS.

Before any more confusion sets in, 135 MS is originally known as Delahaye 135. Initially, it came out in 1935 keeping in mind the idea of a beautiful and efficient sports car. However, the initial model 135 wasn’t able to satisfy what Delahaye had in mind. This further led to the emergence of 135 M and then 135 MS.

The 135 MS was the sportiest version of the 135 series. As beautiful as the model looked when it first came out, its specifications were even more mind blowing. This beauty had a brain of 120 - 145 hp which could also be increased up to 160 hp in some specific models.

Very interestingly, the 135 MS wasn’t bought in India but passed on or exchanged for something or the other in return. This wasn’t because the car was a massive success in being a vintage automobile. This was because of its remarkable performance as a sports car with a body design like never seen before.

This vintage automobile was not just a beauty with brains but was also very dynamic. It could be customised and made to be looked at any way with any kind of modification one wanted, even at that time.

One perspective that made these Delahayes unique were their association with the incomparable French carrosserie that made extreme interiors and exterior frames for them. These were for a Concours d'Elegance and most were quite often executed by Figoni et Falaschi who had an extraordinary feeling of clearing styles and inconspicuous chrome embellishment called brightwork. Numerous other incredible organisations manufactured the 135 MS including Saoutchik, Guillore, Chapron and Franay.

Sadly the 135MS was the last incredible vehicle made by Delahaye. After a while, they kept creating a similar suspension, yet it was slowly revealing how old it very well may be. In 1951, the 135 was supplanted by the 235, which wasn't extremely unique. Its replacement led to the end of this beauty with brains with the 235.
