It was that day in cricketing history when a left-handed all-rounder batsman managed to score the most runs possible in an over. It was Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes.

India, India! The crowd rooting for India at the Durban Stadium in South Africa reverberated. The men in blue were on a roll, and they kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

The 21st match of the inaugural ICC T20 world cup, played between India and England was a nail-biter for all the right reasons.

First and foremost, every IND vs ENG cricket match is filled with suspense and spine tingling tension. It evokes the nostalgia of the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan and energizes every Indian. However, the one played during the ICC T20 World Cup was historic and managed to make every cricket fan's dream come true.

It was 19th September, 2007 when India and England were competing to win a ticket for the semi finals of the T20 world cup.

Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag, the opening batsmen for India made a promising start. In their partnership, they scored 136 runs. The Indian team's supporters in the stadium were rooting for them and had high hopes from them.

With MS Dhoni and Yuvraj on the field, India was 155-3 after Sehwag, Gautam and Robin Uthappa were dismissed.

Anyone who witnessed this live match can attest to the amount of tension, excitement, and adrenaline coursing through their veins. India was determined to reach the 200-run milestone.

Dhoni and Yuvraj were setting the tone for the remaining innings, each delivering their best shots.

Yuvraj Singh, the Indian All rounder was poised to make history with his magical bat. Yuvraj had a heated argument with Andrew Flintoff shortly after arriving on the field. The argument was over the type of boundary shots Yuvraj was throwing.

Yuvraj knew it was better to let his bat speak for him, and the heat between both players was ready to send waves of fire crackers and cheers across the stadium.

“It charged me up for sure, but it happens in games. Oppositions do have a word with each other, so it’s part of the game. Outside we’re good friends, but in the game we’re competitive. Of course, when you hear some words you get charged up, and you want to give it back with the bat. I wanted to give it back with the bat,” Yuvraj said in an interview.

Yuvraj Singh, a Southpaw, became the first batsman to hit six consecutive sixes in T20 international cricket off Stuart Broad's over, fueled by his argument with Flintoff. All other details of the game became hazy after the jersey number 12 scored 50 runs in just 12 balls. Yuvraj was indeed blessed with the number 12!

After five sixes in five balls, Yuvraj practically knew what was going on in Stuart’s mind. “I knew what he was thinking. A yorker. I was in a similar situation once,” recalls Yuvraj in an interview.

The left-handed batsman’s previous experience helped him predict Broad’s move.

Yuvraj was seen looking at Dimitri Mascarenhas after his six consecutive sixes, who happened to hit five sixes off Yuvraj's over in an ODI match. The expression was more of a sense of satisfaction and retribution than anything else. He then cast a glance at Flintoff, and in that brief moment, Yuvraj was able to convey everything he wanted during the argument.

Meanwhile, the crowd was oozing out of their seats. It was a breathless moment for all Indians watching the live telecast of the match. Almost every Indian was ecstatic about the achievement.

India eventually scored 218 runs and defeated England by an 18-run margin in the second innings.

Yuvraj Singh was the man of the match without an iota of doubt and that particular match played on 19th September 2007 is still fresh in our memory. The match of six sixes was really a “Chak de India” moment for all Indians.
