Tahir Hussain was like every aspiring artist wanting to make big in Bollywood. With a suitcase full of dreams and a ticket to Bombay, he followed the footsteps of his elder brother, Nasir Hussain, who is also a well-reputed director and film producer. Inspired by his elder brother's success, Tahir Hussain also takes a leap of faith and starts his career as an assistant to his elder brother. He worked with the crew of *Teesri Manzil*, one of the famous hits of Nasir Hussain.

Hussain's earliest entrance into Hindi cinema can be traced back to his cameo role in the romantic comedy of *Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai.* His first hit production was *Caravan*, which marked the beginning of his career. *Caravan* was a blockbuster hit not only in India but also the highest-grossing foreign film in China. Some of his other popular works include *Anamika* and *Zakhmee*.

It was *Tum Mere Ho* which earned the lifetime fame for Tahir Hussain. Known for its brilliant dialogues and screenplay, *Tum Mere Ho* was the ultimate fantasy revenge drama of its time. The movie employed the trending idea of an *ichadaari nagin,* who would be the sole nemesis of the hero while the hero fights her. *Tum Mere Ho* also launched the famous actor Amir Khan, the son of Tahir Hussain.

A lesser-known fact about Tahir Hussain would be his relationship with the famous Muslim scholar and nationalist, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was Hussain's grand-uncle who had played a symbolic role in the involvement of Hussains and later Amir Khan with Bollywood. Amir Khan, in the interview of January 8, 2014, reveals the story behind this. He confesses that when his uncle, Nasir Hussain, proposed to be a filmmaker, their family discouraged it. It was on a trip to his grand-uncle Maulana Azad that Nasir decides to chase his dream.

> Azad simply told Nasir to chase what his heart wishes. And that was all the courage Nasir was looking for. Amir Khan, in his interview, pays gratitude to his great grand uncle for his kindness. Ironically this reminds us of *Three Idiots*, which preaches the same.
