Fun is not even describing this journey of India. It could be explained to a casual viewer as recreational masochism. The Auto-Rickshaw run running for charity began its journey in India today in 2011.

Yep, the auto-rickshaws which seem to sink around a meter when your weighted aunt sits while you try to find breaths even in the half open vehicle. The autos which seems to be weirdly dysfunctional only when you are late. Even among the arguments for five rupees or ten, the common man/woman always depends on its portability in the busy streets. Of course, the duration of the journey ranging from 20 minutes to two hours depending upon rush hour.

An initiative by the adventurists, the motive of the Auto-rickshaw run was pretty simple, raise money for charity as well as deliver the rustic experience of India in the most primitive of modern vehicles, the auto-rickshaw.

The journey was simply one, go anywhere in India and make a record of it. There were no first or second. Only those whose journey was to be the most exciting, read as devastating and full of experiences close to almost receiving trauma was to be crowned the best. Best in hurting oneself that is.

The rules. 2 days of getting familiar with your ride and pimping it out. A launch party to drink away all the fears and anxieties of the journey which would return featuring a hangover along with pleasantries of the night, such as ear-drums blowing bands of India, to numb out all your inner voices regretting the journey. Finally, the adventure, which would be the complete opposite of a Bear Grylls show, you wanting to learn how to die while alive instead of surviving through the spring suspension of your ride along with your team-mates. At least the sufferers suffer not alone and then finally the finish party if you have the energy to be present and dance like our Indian uncles do.

Given a period of 16 days in India and 10 days in the north-east, the journey would make you the cool uncle or aunt who was an adventurer to your nephews and nieces. Ignorant of all the suffering it caused on your life. This journey could literally break or make you, the former even more evident if you are from a first world country and do not know the joys of tantric vibrational massages in the roads of India.

Marathons are not a boring, only-for-run affair now- they’re actually fun. One such marathon race for a charity called the Rickshaw Run began in India today
