RAKESH ROSHAN, AN EPITOME OF PERSEVERANCE

Rakesh Roshan, the doyen of the cinema industry is going to count another year ahead on September 6th. Even though he is the son of the music director Roshan and the Bengali singer Ira Roshan, life was not a cakewalk for him. Struggles haunted his days and troubles spooked his nights. With all the problems and pressure to run his lovable family, he created his ladder for the stars. This is the story of a family man, a father, fighting to give his family a better life.

Most people have this general idea, that cinema gives a person two extremes of either a marvelous victory or a merciless loss. The same key of advice that could always be heard in the air is that one should have contacts to succeed in the field of cinema. Rakesh Roshan is the epitome of the proverb “Hardwork never Fails”. Though he has a cinema background from his parents, his career was different.

Rakesh Roshan did not follow the musical path of his parents. He decided to write his career as he wished and decided to appear as an actor. Opportunities came more to be a supporting actor and very few with the lead role. Some movies of him were successful and some have not which made him realize that God has some other plans for him.

His actual career started at the untimely death of his father. He worked as Assistant Director to a filmmaker and got a grip on his talent and interest there. Life gave him a few successful steps to reach a checkpoint. In 1980, he started a production company Filmkraft and the first movie by the company was a box office was not a hit. Besides his production company, he also tried to launch himself as an actor. But it was an ups and downs for him.

During a period, he was under financial difficulties. At those times, he was struggling to pay his rent. He left his children in his in-law's house until he bought a house barely with walls and floors. The family has even slept on floor mats and gaddas. Rakesh Roshan worried that he could not afford his family a better life. He got his family time rarely which made him miss his children. The possible time he made sure to be with them was during their vacation when he joins for a few days with them.

As a father, his heart broods for the lifestyle of his children. He strongly decided on one thing though he might not give his children the luxury, he must ensure that he must bring them up extremely well, which is evident to the world as seen in his son, Hrithik Roshan. Time flies with Rakesh Roshan’s continuous hard work and perseverance. Life showed some favor on his side.

In 2000, he directed Kaho Nah…Pyaar Hai with a new seed of his own named Hrithik Roshan, which was a debut for the famous and most favorite Indian actor. When the father and the son tasted success from the same fruit as the director and the hero, an unbelievable incident happened. Rakesh Roshan has been shot in the arm, and the bullet has grazed his chest too. Luckily, nothing happened to him at that time. He was at the hospital for about five days and his son was at his bedside. The film’s blockbuster hit gave the director happiness and the father had been so contented. The success of the film gave Rakesh Roshan a desire to live again for the sake of his son. The favorable reviews and, a warm welcome for his son in the industry gave him incredible energy.

The man, the father, the director, the producer and whatnot has been honored with many awards as his hard work never let him down. He battled throat cancer, an assassination attempt, a financial crisis, and his untold sufferings which all in return bore him the fruit of success and happiness. Rakesh Roshan is now a successful Film producer, Director, screenwriter, proud father, and happy grandfather. All his hurdles trained and turned him into a bankable man!
