Kieron Pollard is a man who knows a thing or two about pulling miracles off. On countless occasions, he has rescued Mumbai from the trenches of despair. This game against CSK wasn't going to be just a test of his skill but also of his mental mettle. On top of chasing one of the highest targets in IPL history, he also had to fight through the fatigue of bio bubble and the anxieties induced by COVID-19.

Sharma and Quinton had the perfect foundation, scoring 71 from the first 46 balls. After that partnership, it was nothing but the Kieron Pollard show. His innings had been similar in flamboyance to Rayudu’s. Once his partner but now in his enemy's ranks, Ambati muscled his way to 70 from just 27 balls.

From 71-0, Mumbai slipped to 81 for 3. Collapses during big run chases aren't a new thing, what matters is that you don't let the opposition in the game too much. With a required run rate of 13.8 in the last 10 overs, it's easy for anyone to lose their calm. Not Pollard.

The tides began to change in the 13th over when he hit Jadeja for 3 sixes in an over. This took them to 13o at the end of the 14th over, which was 4 runs more than CSK had scored at this stage. The belief was starting to come back thanks to Kieron, as he raced to a blistering 50 from just 17 balls.

Krunal turned the heat in the 16th over but Curran pegged Mumbai back massively by giving away just 2 in the next over. CSK had the opportunity to put the game to bed when Pollard skied one up. Faf, one of the best fielders in world cricket, settled underneath it but to everyone's shock, dropped it. And that was the game set in stone.

Curran got hit for two but got CSK back in the game with the wickets of Hardik and Neesham. Ndidi was handed the ball but instead, he dropped it completely. Three consecutive full tosses and just like that, the game was done. With 2 needed, Pollard tucked the ball into an empty space to win the game. Ndidi had had a game to forget while in contrast, Pollard had an unforgettable one.

More than anything, T20 cricket is a test of a player's nerves. Pollard held his nerves perfectly while CSK lost the plot completely.
